so i was driving to church this morning and i had the incubus CD, morning view, with me. i was listening to the song "wish you were here" and i've always really like the lyrics in the song for multiple reasons but today it was not the "usual" reasons - it had nothing to do with the title of the song. here's what caught my ear this morning:
I dig my toes into the sand
The ocean looks like a thousand diamonds
Strewn across a blue blanket
I lean against the wind
Pretend that I am weightless
And in this moment I am happy.. happy
...
I lay my head onto the sand
The sky resembles a backlit canopy
With holes punched in it
I'm counting UFOs
I signal them with my lighter
And in this moment I am happy.. happy
...
The world's a roller coaster
And I am not strapped in
...everytime i hear that i can almost feel myself in the same place that he's describing and with a simple feeling of self-happiness that has no flaws or conflicts - a nice escape from the reality we most likely live every day. oh well, i think those are some of the things that keep me motivated and
alive in every sense of the word.
